A try at Mercedes

So...............under the advice of a close friend of mine I decided to try out Mercedes. Against my own will. Don't get me wrong, I think Mercedes is a very fun job to look forward to, but to actually play Mercedes before its release in MapleSEA would be kind of cheating, don't you think?

So I tried out this private server, link provided by my dear friend, and I downloaded it within two days (I don't use the computer much so the downloads are paused and resumed over time) and gave it a spin. Well one thing's for sure, the storyline reminds me of Aran's storyline. Though the starting was a bit anime like XD. I'm sure some people on the internet have already seen the starting of the Mercedes job. After picking your gender and all that the video starts.

Then at the end of the video, you wake up to find out you are cursed XD. Turns out none of the heroes involved in defeating the Black Magician actually died, but were actually weakened to the point that they wake up at different times. Like Aran after a thousand years trapped in ice(if I'm not wrong) or Evan after getting a spirit pact with Mir.

Freud and Afrien. Cute names. But I'm sure the names will change after arriving in MapleSEA. Moving on. You ask them what happened to the others. Long story short, the Black Magician casted a spell that has separated all the five heroes who went to conquer the Black Magician. Mercedes says that they were lucky to be in the same place unlike the others.

Then you proceed to your little elf town of Elluel. Strange name, which will change once it arrives in MapleSEA. You arrive at the little town to find that, the town too, was cursed, and that nothing more could be done. You have a slight argument with the elders of the town before you eventually win the argument. Then you have to do three quests before going to sleep for hundreds of years. After each respective quest, the elder from which you get the quest from will be entombed in a block of ice.

Then you go into your room and sleep for hundreds of years. Then you wake up (still sleepy lol) and go back out into town. The problem is the town is still frozen, when they were supposed to defrost (lol) when you woke up. That's all I have that's solid. The rest is all part of the private server. No idea what comes next so I guess it's time to share the skills XD.

The clothes look badass. That's for sure. Oh yeah, and note the Magic Arrow slot next to the Mercedes' weapon slot. And for the record, the weapon Mercedes uses is called a Dual Bowgun. The name might make no sense but meh, nothing much we can do.
Now really onto skills XD.

Level one leaf tornado. Costs 33 mp and does 97% damage. Attacks four times and hits 8 enemies. Must have 120 jump to use this skill or you will be told that you are not "high" enough to use this skill. This skill is spammable. At max level, level twenty, mp cost will be 45 and damage will be 135%.

Level 15 Spirit Surge. Consumes 45 mp and is a second job skill. Lasts for 180 seconds and adds 15% attack and critical.

Level 20 Dual Bowgun booster. Duration 200 seconds. Second job skill. Mp cost 11.

Level 20 Ignis Roar. Has both passive and active effects. Active effect : +40 att for 180 seconds. Mana cost : 60. The passive effect is that you get 20% avoidability permanently.

Level 20 Water Shield. Absorbs a certain percent of damage from mobs and increases resistance to abnormal states and elemental attacks. Kinda like Achilles for Warriors. Sad they remove Achilles after the Jump! patch >_<. Anyway, at master level Water shield costs 100mp and absorbs 30% damage. Duration is as normal, 3 minutes or 180 seconds. And increase resistance to abnormal states and elemental attacks increase by 25%.

Level 20 Elemental Knight. Mine is still not maxed XD. Summons one random Elemental Knight to aid you in battle. Now, there are three types of Elemental Knights. A Fire type, an Ice type and a Shadow type. The Fire Elemental Knight(FEK)'s damage over time is 550% chance of causing 110% damage every second for 5 seconds.

The Ice Elemental Knight (IEK) does 550% damage and has a 90% chance of freezing the monster it's attacking for 5 seconds. The Shadow Elemental Knight (SEK) only has increased damage compared to the rest. Doing 625% damage. After using this skill there is a cooldown of 120 seconds at master level and a 160 second duration at master level.

One of my favourite skills is Rising Rush. It's basically a combination of Dark Knight's Rush and Aran's Final Toss. Instead of pulling, you are pushing forward up to 8 monsters and tossing them into the air. Now the rushing damage is 130% at max level, which is level 20. This is a second job skill. Throwing the mob into the air does 210% damage. Extra damage while they are in the air is 30%.

And the final toss. This alone is not enough to kill the mob. At second job, you get another skill to use after Rising Rush. Parting Shot does 90% damage attacking 4 times on 8 monsters at master level, which is level 5 and can only be used after Rising Rush.

This combination is fun to use. I use another skill but that's after you get it in 3rd job. After your 3rd job advancement, you get another skill called Aerial Barrage. This skill slashes at the mob that are in the air after a successful Rising Rush skill. This skill also increases the damage for Rising Rush. Aerial Barrage, at master level, level 20, can do 120% damage 6 times upon 8 monsters in the air, with a 15% chance of instant death. The damage increase for Rising Rush is 30%, and is also a passive effect, which means it's permanent.

Another one of my favourite skills, would be Unicorn Spike. Finally Nexon releases something very very badass. The reason why is because even at level one, Unicorn Spike is capable of doing 112% damage and hit 8 enemies with 5 critical attacks. And an additional debuff chance of 19% for 5 seconds and the amount of additional damage is 5. Cooldown is 20 seconds.

A rather good combination would be Rising Rush > Aerial Barrage > Unicorn Spike. Unicorn Spike is a 3rd job skill, so it's not included after Parting Shot in 2nd job until you get it after 3rd job.

Ok last skill before I go to bed. Another one of my favourite skills is Gust Dive. Requires 120 jump and does 195% damage at master level which is level 20. Attacks three times onto 6 monsters.

It looks like I drove a huge Fairfrozen into the ground xD.

I have no idea why I'm starting a new paragraph everytime I end a sentence. Oh Facebook, what have you done to me~


Most of my scars from the Chickenpox a couple of weeks back have healed which probably means I'm no longer infectious. That means I can play Maple. Awww yeahhh. Though I might have changed a bit. I somehow missed Maple while I was sick. I missed out on a bunch of things that I know are too late to post about, so I better not XD.

Though.... There's the Cygnus Protocol event I can take part in. From 26th December til the 31st of December between 1400hrs to 2300hrs (+8 GMT). So...........monsters will invade every town. It's kinda like one of those events held once every few months where monsters start to invade every town. I think I've been to one before. Have to check my archive of photos >.> But in the meantime, I bought cubes from the sale in Maple and now my spear has been terribly corrupted >.>

It used to be 10% chance to inflict level 2 slow when attacking and an additional five magic attack. Another 50 health points.... + hyper body...(60%) and my bunny mask (6%).... well that's not much xD. But still better than nothing :p.

And, I blew up my Purple Witch Belt. Now I have to go get a black belt from Mu Lung Training Centre or find someone who can craft me a good belt. For now I'm beltless. I blew up my belt from potentialling but my Mark of Nericain is safe xD. With three lines. Dohoho.

Short update.

So yeah, my examination results are in a few days and I have chicken pox. So I can't get my results, and I have to discontinue my part time job as a waiter. This sucks. Might have to stay away from the computer for a while, I hope you guys understand.

Attendance check and Artifact event

What's up Maplers? First of all I'd like to apologize for not updating my blog or going online in Maple. I've been rather....busy, to say the least. School holidays have come around and now I've got a part time job at a restaurant nearby, so yeah that fills up 5 hours of my daily computer time.

Now that I logged on for the first time in days, I figured that I should take the Attendance check and the Artifact thing. Grapes were harvested from monsters within half an hour while I was looking for artifacts. I got through 5 of the artifacts before I gave up. Was too sleepy. Had a nap and got up to blog. Maybe after this I'll go online. Anyway, the artifacts I received are :

And Soccer Cleats (so far). Didn't get a shot of the cleats, but I got the aftermath XD

Oh yeah, before I forget something, I went for a Dragon Rider Party Quest a couple of weeks back, and got to defeat him along with my party. First time since Big Bang started have I ever participated in another Dragon Rider Party Quest. Anyway, after defeating him in the last round, he gives a quest in which we have to travel to Leafre and talk to Chief Tatamo.

And you get 110 Charisma, which in MapleSEA would be Ambition I guess.

Also in the time span of the last 2 weeks, I tried out Ice Knight until I felt the joy of being an Ice Knight.

Ice Chop is the first skill you get as you fill the bar. I took a screenshot of something I really have no idea what is happening.

Wind piercing bow is facing the left side. But the shot is going the other way. Lolwat. And I got something like a Triple Kill :P.

Then I died and someone leveled up XD.

And one more thing before I'm done. I'd like to thank LeilaLux, Puffy45 and many other of my buddy list friends who wished me happy birthday 2 days ago.

Break time

Review on Ice Knight Patch

So...yeah first I'd like to apologize for the lack of activity on my blog, but I've been rather....."preoccupied" recently so it's going to be hard to find time to go around Maple.

Anyway, greetings and salutations to everyone who visits this blog and to everyone else everywhere. First off, I'm going to review the latest patch, the Chaos : Ice Knight Patch, and then I'm going to go over to my experiences in Ice Knight and Capture the Flag.

The patch is mainly about the new features available in Player vs. Player battle, which would be Ice Knight and Capture the Flag. But I'll cover that later. 

3. [Game Content] Wedding Commitment

Attention all married couple! Have you ever wanted to re-new your wedding vows with your loved ones? The chance is here with the new Wedding Commitment content.

1. Receive the 30/100 Days Commitment Event from Maple Mailbox

2. Look for Ames the Wise inside Amoria

3. You will need to purchase the Commitment Ceremony Ticket from the Cash Shop.

Commitment Ceremony Guide
• 30 Days after your marriage date you will receive a letter from Ames the Wise. This applies too for couple who are married for more than 100 days.
• Party up with your partner
• Once you have activated the quest, purchase the Commitment Ceremony Ticket from the Cash Shop.
• Talk to Sister Margaret to reserve the ceremony chapel for you and your partner.
• After reservation, talk to Sister Clarence and select “I’m ready for my 30 days / 100 days wedding commitment wedding”
• Once done, both party member will be teleported to the wedding map.
• Talk to the Wedding Commitment NPC to complete the ceremony.
• After completion of the wedding ceremony, approach NPC Jacob to receive the wedding commitment rewards.

Wedding Commitment Event Period (23/11/2011 – 31/12/2011)

From 23/11/2011 till 31/12/2011, all in-game married couple will receive a “30 Days of Love Rain” quest from Cassandra.

“30 Days of Love Rain” Guide

• Party up with your partner

• Activate the “30 Days of Love Rain” quest from Cassandra
• Collect 30 or 100 Pink Water Drop from monsters

• Once the required amount of Pink Water Drop have been collected, look for Cassandra to complete the quest.

• “30 Days Commitment” Wedding Ring
• Love Chair
• Heart Return Stones

Reward for 100 Days Commitment Wedding
• “100 Days Commitment” Wedding Ring
• Love Rain

Ok now, whether or not the husband and wife both need the ticket, or just one will do, I'm not sure. And I tried looking for the Wedding Ring stats up on hidden street but there was no record of it's existence. So I checked it up on Global as well, with the same results. The South East Asian version of Hidden Street had a lot of the Evolving Ring stats, but nothing about the Wedding Rings. The website didn't list the rings available from Player vs Player either. So....yeah, the stats will remain unknown until someone acquires them XD.

4. [System Event] Ice Knight Event! (23/11/2011 – 31/12/2011)

From 23/11/2011 till 31/12/2011, talk to NPC Rosette to accept the various challenges.

Arena of the Ice Knight
Challenge: Achieve a score of 200 or more while playing as the Ice Knight
Reward: One Gallant Emblem

Ice Knight 500
Challenge:Achieve a score of 500 or more while playing as the Ice Knight.
Reward: One Iceman Transformation Potion and One Gallant Emblem

The Ice Knight’s Curse
Challenge: Log in between 1400hrs – 1500hrs(+8 GMT) and locate the Curse Knight in Henesys to accept the Ice Knight’s Curse challenge.
Reward: Ice Knight Medal


When I tried out the Ice Knight option in PvP, I already achieved a score of 500 or more, so I got the Transformation Potion and the Gallant Emblem. The only thing I have yet to accomplish is the Ice Knight's Curse challenge. But considering as to how I might be busy today, I'll try it out later. I checked out the stats of the Ice Knight Medal on Hidden street.

Ice Knight Medal : All stats +2 . Charm EXP +100. No time limit. So it's probably worth it to get this medal.

5. [System Event] Inkwell and the Red Buttons Event (23/11/2011 – 21/12/2011)

From 23/11/2011 till 21/12/2011, monsters all over MapleSEA will be dropping Ice Cubes . Collect the Ice Cubes piece and purchase a Microwave from the Cash Shop to melt the Ice Cubes, after which you will receive a Red Button

Now that's what makes me afraid of participating in this event XD. The "and many more" part scares me

6. [System Event] Attendant Check Event (01/12/2011 – 31/12/2011)

Remember to mark your attendance with Cassandra during the month of December as she will be giving out reward box to every Mapler who complete the daily attendance quest.

This is what you have to do:

1. Talk to NPC Cassandra and receive the Attendant Check Event daily quest.

2. You are required to hunt 30 Grapes from monsters and give them to Cassandra before she mark your attendance for the day.

3. For every attendance taken, you will receive 1 Attendance Box and a grape stamped on the date which you have completed the daily attendance quest.

4. That’s not all! You will receive additional rewards when you attend the event for a certain number of days.

Grapes Belt will be given to Mapler who attended the event for 3 days, 12 days and 21 days.

Grapes Pendant will be given to Mapler who attended the event for 6 days, 15 days and 24 days.

Grapes Earrings will be given to Mapler who attended the event for 9 days, 18 days and 27 days.
Perfect Attendance Medal will be given to Mapler who attended the event for 31 days.

Now I feel like I've seen this somewhere.... I think it was on Spadow's blog. It's a shame he stopped blogging ;_; He posts a lot of interesting stuff. Anyway, moving back to the topic. Now according to Global Maplestory Hidden Street. The stats of the items are :

Grape Belt : Weapon attack + 2. Magic Attack + 2 . Weapon & Magic Defence + 50 . Max HP and MP + 300.

Grape Pendant : Weapon defence and magic defence + 50. All stats + 5

Grape Earring : Weapon attack & Magic attack + 3.

Perfect Attendance Medal : Weapon attack & Magic attack + 5. All stats + 7. MaxHP&MP + 200.

Do take note though, ALL OF THE ITEMS HAVE A TIME LIMIT. Makes me wonder if this event is worth it to join :P.

Archaeologist Hat : All stats +7 Weapon&Magic Defence + 30. MaxHP and MP + 50. Charm EXP + 100, and has 10 slots. No time limit

Archaeologist Glasses : All stats + 2 Weapon&Magic Defence + 20. Charm EXP + 100 and has 3 slots. No time limit as well.

Archaeologist Face Paint : All stats + 3. Weapon&Magic Defence + 10. Accuracy & Avoidability +30 with no slots. Charm EXP + 100. Has no time limit.

However, if you were to acquire all of the Archaeologist items as a set, the set will give you :

All stats + 3
MaxHP&MP +100

However, I would recommend that you don't trade in your points. Instead just keep it to be in the Artifact Hunt Top 10 and get the medal. Now, I can tell you, the stats of the medal are really worth getting for.

Top Artifact Hunter Medal : Weapon&Magic attack + 3. Weapon&Magic Defence + 150. All stats + 5 MaxHP&MP +100 Speed and Jump + 15. And the Charm EXP is good too. + 200 Charm EXP.

8. [System Event] Christmas Season of Joy 2011 (07/12/2011 – 21/12/2011)

Suni’s family are having problems clearing their debts and need our help. If this goes on, Suni and her family will be sleeping on the streets before the New Year. However, Suni have some powerful equipments which have been accidentally enhanced by Spiruna and she is putting them up for rental to earn some meso. She needs to clear the debts as soon as possible.

From 07/12/2011 till 21/12/2011, you will be able to rent powerful equipment from Suni for a small fee.

The following Evan Series Rental Equipments are available from Suni:

As a bonus from Suni, she will be changing all the rented equipments from temporary to permanent if you are able to enhance the rented weapon to 8 Stars enhancement. What’s more, Suni will reward you with 1 Miracle Cube as well for each successfully enhanced 8 Stars equipment.

In additional to this event, you will be able to purchase Lucky Enhancement Box from NPC Joyce. Each Lucky Enhancement Box will gives you random chance to obtain an Enhancement Scroll or an Advance Enhancement Scroll to assist you with enhancing your rental equipments.

._. Are you joking me? 80Million for 7 days? You have to scroll it to a 8 Star successful enhancement to keep it? Skip this event unless you want to try your luck.
